Kaieteur News – A Berbice money changer is now hospitalised after two bandits beat, robbed and dumped him overboard, before making their good escape with his car.
Rajkumar Shivgobin, 53, also knows as “Rohan” who operates at the Skeldon Market, was reportedly beaten and robbed by two men on Saturday afternoon around 16:00hrs as he was preparing to head home after a hard day’s work, plying his trade.
According to one of the injured man’s relatives, the men approached Shivgobin, took their firearms and hit in his face, punched him and then relieved him of an undisclosed amount of cash he has in his possession. After throwing him overboard, they jumped into his car white Allion motorcar and drove off.
Public-spirited citizens picked up the injured man and rushed him to the Skeldon Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment and a report was filed with the authorities attached to the Skeldon Police Station. Back in 2020, Shivgobin was robbed at the same market and gun-butted by bandits who then escaped on bicycles before hopping into a black wagon. Investigations into the matter are ongoing and police are asking that anyone who has information about the car’s whereabouts to contacts the nearest police station.
