…460 traffic tickets made out on Monday
Mikel De Freitas of Fifth Avenue, Bartica was on Tuesday fined $200,000, with an alternative of six months’ imprisonment, after pleading guilty before Bartica Magistrate Crystel Lambert to driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Police contend that De Freitas was driving a vehicle while his breath alcohol level had exceeded the prescribed limit. Upon his pleading guilty, the magistrate imposed the sentence on him.
The Police have said that a total of 178 traffic tickets had been issued on Monday to errant motorists whose driving had exceeded the speed limit. In addition, 460 cases have been made out on Monday, 178 of which are for speeding, while three are for DUI.
