President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced recently that Guyana’s first fully-digital primary and secondary schools will be developed by the end of 2024, a move he said will vastly improve education delivery locally.

“(It will be) fully-digital and online where you will have LIVE teaching and you will also have recorded teaching so students can stay at home and be in school,” the President told residents of the riverain village, Dora.

According to him, the digitisation of educational content is an unfolding process. Once that is completed, the schools will be developed and possibly made operational by year end.

The Guyanese Head of State also spoke about this venture during his Presidential Address at the country’s 58th Independence Anniversary flag raising ceremony in Linden at the weekend.

The President said the government is moving towards the development of a “digital education system” – a venture he believes would be a first in the region, if not in the entire world.
