Gov’t hands over solar panels to Upper Berbice River villages – Stabroek News

The Government of Guyana has distributed 178 solar panels and accessories to a number of villages in Upper Berbice River.

Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, handed over the electrical systems to the communities.

DeVeldt Village received 123 of the photovoltaic systems and fifty-five panels were distributed between Fort Nassau and Gateroy Savannah. At the handing over ceremony, Laxley Lindie, Chairman of the Community Development Council, said that the panels will bring immediate relief to residents. “I know that this is a big relief to people. I am thankful to know that this could have been done in our community,” Lindie stated.
