…2 alleged accomplices deny joint charge

Three Venezuelan nationals were jointly charged for possession of firearms, ammunition, and narcotics.
The three men are Eliezer Vera, Romel Marin, and Alirio Jiminez. They all appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where four joint charges were read to them for possession of 66.4 grams of cocaine and 64.7 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking, possession of two Beretta pistols and a Glock pistol without licences, and possession of 25 matching rounds of ammunition.

During the hearing, Marin and Jiminez pleaded not guilty, while Vera admitted to the offences. As a result, Marin and Jimenez were remanded to prison, and Vera was jailed.
For the possession of narcotics charge, Vera was jailed for three years and fined $58,230; for the possession of the cocaine, he was jailed for a further three years and fined $99,600. The sentences will run concurrently.
